Prof. Wardle had a chance to visit Aerogel Technologies‘ new facilities in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. A picture was also taken with CEO Dr. Stevie Steiner III who is a former necstlab graduate student. Stevie also co-authored Springer Handbook of Aerogels with Michel A. Aegerter, Nicholas Leventis, and Matthias Koebel, which was recently published in 2023. This handbook covers best practices for aerogel materials characterization and equipment design, providing in-depth coverage of organic, inorganic, and composite aerogels, from silica-based to polymer varieties. It also offers a detailed survey of aerogel applications across various industries, including military, aerospace, household, environmental, energy, and biomedical sectors, showcasing the versatility of these materials.
