Over the summer, Palak Patel was studying damage progression in nano-engineered aerospace carbon fiber composites using synchrotron radiation computed tomography at the Super Photon Ring 8 GeV, the most powerful synchrotron radiaiton facility in the world located in Hyogo, Japan. She led a team of seven from MIT, University of Southhamption, and University of Porto that studied the effect of different loads on carbon fiber composite materials.
