Xinchen Ni recently joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Assistant Professor. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Fudan University in 2012 and completed a S.M. and a Ph.D. at MIT in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering in 2014 and 2020, respectively. Afterward, He was a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University working with Prof. John A. Rogers on bio-integrated devices.  His research interests are mechanics, metamaterials, programmable materials, machine learning.
